The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday assured that no child will be left without school enrollment or out of the educational system during his tenure as top official.

Within this framework, the Head of State argued that transparency in the execution of public works and the review of some contracts will allow for substantial savings so as to declare the education sector in emergency and meet urgent needs such as infrastructure, equipment, well-trained teachers, and food for schoolchildren.

"During my administration, no student will end up without enrollment. Children cannot be out of school, out of the educational system. Many times we have been told that we must combat school dropout rates, but children are not the dropouts; these children must be recovered," he emphasized.

The top official pointed out that Peru cannot celebrate another centennial of independent life with almost three million illiterate citizens.

"We must put an end to this sad reality," Mr. Castillo told citizens gathered at Chachapoyas Main Square, where he announced that the Muni-Executive meeting will be held in that city within the third week of March —an event that will bring together local authorities and State ministers.

Along these lines, the President called on province, district, and population center mayors, as well as Amazonas region Congress members and social leaders, to participate in this meeting.

According to the Head of State, the event will allow the main public works for the region to be scheduled and attendees to learn what the budget allocated by the Executive Branch is invested in.

Remarks were made during an audience with local authorities and a meeting held with Amazonas region citizens.
