Peru's President meets with U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte arrived at the Capitol on Thursday afternoon to attend a meeting organized by the Chairman of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Benjamin Cardin.

At this gathering, the Peruvian Head of State spoke with U.S. senators from different parties about the close bilateral relations and the common interest in boosting cooperation to achieve sustainable development.

They also discussed climate change, the fight against drug trafficking, among other issues of utmost importance.

Within this framework, the top official underscored that Peru is a stable country, as well as a reliable partner for investments and trade.


Presidential agenda

President Boluarte on Thursday fulfilled an agenda that included a gathering of Heads of State and Government of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP), as well as bilateral meetings with leaders of other nations.

During her participation in the event of dignitaries, the Head of State affirmed that Peru has once again become a reliable country for investments.

Similarly, the top official invited important U.S. businesspeople to develop ventures with clear rules and adjusted to the rule of law in Peru.


"The United States is Peru's second-largest trading partner, and we want it to become the first. We want to rely on support from the IDB as well (…)," she added.
