Peru's Head of State lands in Brazil for Amazon Presidential Summit

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte arrived at 6:48 p.m. (local time) at the air base in Belem do Para —the city where the Fourth Presidential Meeting of the States Parties to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty will be held.

Upon arrival in the metropolis, the Peruvian Head of State was received with honors. Immediately, she was saluted by air base commander, Colonel Rodrigo Goretti Piedade.

Later, the top official held an important meeting with Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva —host of the summit of leaders of Amazonian countries.

On august 8, Mrs. Boluarte is expected to deliver a speech at the Fourth Presidential Meeting of the States Parties to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty.

During the upcoming event, the complex problems facing the Amazonian region will be discussed.


ACTO

The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is made up of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.

The countries signed the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT) aimed at promoting the development of territories located in this area of the region.

As part of the ACT, member countries assumed a common commitment for environment preservation and the rational use of the Amazonia's natural resources, constituting the only socio-environmental bloc in Latin America.
