The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday affirmed that the time has come to seek consensus to meet the most urgent needs of citizens, without exception.

At first, the President called for a minute of silence to remember the Peruvians who lost their lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Afterwards, he began his speech and called for building consensus to promote national development.

"Congress members, let us seek areas of agreement and consensus to meet the demands and expectations of citizens, who expect clear signs of an administration seeking national development, without any sort of exception," he said.

Additionally, the President provided details on the Government's General Policy for the 2021-2026 period, which includes proposals made by different political parties during the electoral campaign and contains priority guidelines for intervention.

"That is why we stand here before you, so that we can work together to secure a worthy homeland for our compatriots, based on democracy and social justice," he noted.
