The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, on Friday said the Government is working to address the needs of the most vulnerable population in order to close all types of gaps affecting that sector of the country.

These remarks were made during the inauguration ceremony for the expansion of electricity distribution networks in Nuevo Paraiso population center, Chepen province, northern La Libertad region.

"We will make every necessary effort to address the main needs that are still pending. We still have gaps to close," Balcazar stated.

"I believe this project is the best one we have to carry out across the country, and we are now addressing these gaps affecting the neediest population," he added.

The Head of State noted that achieving development requires providing electricity to the country’s most remote communities.

"We will coordinate with the mayor of Chepen and his districts so we can swiftly close more gaps, because my term as President of the Republic, as you know, lasts until July 28," Balcazar said.

"But nationwide, we are doing more than what could normally be achieved in five years," he pointed out.

The top official also said that during his time leading the Government, gaps have been closed in several regions, including Puno, Cusco, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, and now La Libertad.
