stated on Tuesday that her administration will seek to strengthen Peru's partnerships with major foreign economies to promote greater investment and closer international cooperation.
"Our seventh objective will be to strengthen our foreign policy by prioritizing the development and consolidation of partnerships for integration," Fujimori said during her Address to the Nation at the Congress of the Republic on the occasion of Independence Day.
In this regard, the Head of State said the Pacific Alliance will play a greater role in boosting the competitiveness of its member economies—Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru—in global markets.
The top official also said Peru's participation in the Andean Community (CAN) will be strengthened to advance "even further in the integration of our peoples."
"Our goal is to strengthen regional cooperation and joint efforts, with Spain's always welcome participation in promoting friendship and the shared interests of Ibero-America," she added.
APEC and Middle East cooperation
Along the same lines, Peru will prioritize its role in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to open up new opportunities for investment and cooperation with friendly countries in the Middle East.
"Our geographical location can position Peru as the bridge connecting those continents with the markets in Latin America and the Caribbean," she pointed out.
