on Wednesday affirmed that the Government is always willing to dialogue, adding he hopes that interprovincial transporters will end their strike and road blockades.
In an interview with Tacna's Radio Uno, the Head of State recalled that yesterday the transporters' points of view had been addressed and listened to.
Within this framework, the top official indicated that the real limitations have been explained to them, as well as to what extent the Executive Branch can act.
"We hope that carriers will give up their strike and, above all, let trucks carrying oxygen, medicines, and supplies for hospitals pass through in order to
face the pandemic," he expressed.
According to the statesman, the price of oil is not set arbitrarily by Peru but is governed internationally, and it has risen. Therefore, the exported commodity is now more expensive and becomes even more costly due to devaluation.
"In view of this, changes have been offered in the regulations for the return of excise taxes to transporters," he explained.
"Therefore, we ask for understanding and solidarity. From the Government, we will do everything possible to alleviate their situation," he concluded.
