Peru's President: Government has delivered transparent message about COVID-19

13:13 | Lima, Jul. 28.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday assured that his administration has always delivered a transparent message about the COVID-19 pandemic, which affects the country.

"No compatriot, who has died from COVID-19, should be left off the official registry (…)," he expressed in this sense.

The Head of State argued that there is nothing to hide and therefore —unlike other countries that do the counting at the end of the pandemic— Peru does it as the virus evolves and will continue doing so until it is under control.

According to the Head of State, 70% of citizens —who had tested positive for COVID-19— have managed to recover from it.

Nonetheless, the top official indicated that the death of each Peruvian constitutes an irreparable loss for the country and affects everyone.

"I express, once again, our deepest condolences to their relatives and loved ones," he concluded.
