The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Thursday affirmed that confidence motion and censure are part of the balance of powers, adding that they are political tools to maintain democratic stability in the country.

Via Twitter, the Head of State welcomed the visit of Congress Chairwoman Maria del Carmen Alva and various parliamentary spokespersons, whom he received at the Government Palace last night to engage in dialogue.

"(…) We agree that the confidence motion and censure are part of the balance of powers and they are political tools to maintain democratic stability," he wrote.

Lawmakers arrived at the Government Palace on Wednesday night. At the site, they engaged in dialogue with the top official.

At the end of this meeting, Chairwoman Alva said that —after talking with the Head of State about the eventual presentation of a confidence motion— the parliamentarians left the facilities calm, as they were able to clarify this issue.
