The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday affirmed that, during her more than two months in office as Executive Branch head, she has been promoting an agenda for each region, favoring peace and dialogue with the aim of seeking development in Peru.

Mrs. Boluarte led a press conference from the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital on this occasion.

The Head of State indicated that, on the subject of social peace, the Executive Branch did not stop for "a single day" from December 7 to date by holding constant meetings with various sectors of the citizenry, as well as with regional governors, provincial and district mayors.

"We met with the mayors of Junin and Huancavelica; today with the mayors of Apurimac; the same will be done with all mayors of Ayacucho and at the national level, also with the Interreligious Council, the Episcopal Conference, business guilds, and workers so as to put on the table the agenda for each region and also the agenda for peace and dialogue seeking the development of our country," she expressed.

The Head of State specified that more than two months ago she had assumed the constitutional mandate to lead the Executive Branch. Thus, it is necessary to report on the administration of ministers, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the Presidential Office.

The top official recalled that nine axes of the General Government Policy were presented at Congress, among which are the restoration of social peace, the promotion of social programs, the relaunching of the economy, the reactivation and unlocking of projects, among others.

Sectors

The Head of State reported that S/903 million (about US$234 million) was executed by the economy sector in January, of which S/590 million (about US$152 million) was allocated for the Con Punche Peru —a rapid economic reactivation plan.

While in health, the top official said S/515 million (about US$133 million) in services for cancer patients was allocated.

In terms of energy, the New Talara Refinery was launched —deemed as a historic milestone for Peru and which will enable our country not to depend on fuel imports.

Concerning the agriculture sector, Mrs. Boluarte announced that the Recuperate Ya (Recover Now) grant is being delivered to over 200,000 farmers and stockbreeders.

In terms of education, 100,000 teachers were hired to guarantee a good start of the 2023 school year.

Regarding the housing sector, access to water and drainage was provided to 14 regions featuring public works that stand at 90% completion rate, benefiting 63,000 people. Besides, warm homes were installed in six Peruvian regions.

In the production sector, she said that a grant of S/500 (about US$129) for artisanal fishermen was approved.

Regarding development and social inclusion, an extraordinary subsidy was given to the beneficiaries of social programs. Also, 9,000 tons of food were distributed among 3,500 community kitchens.

She added that, in the case of the Presidential Office reshuffle, her administration seeks to restore meritocracy, integrity, and technology in decision-making —especially for the fight against corruption.
