Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra took part in a ceremony to commemorate the National Day of Persons with Disabilities. He was joined by his wife First Lady Maribel Diaz.
October 16 marks the National Day of Persons with Disabilities in Peru, in recognition of their rights and social inclusion.
The General Law on Persons with Disabilities (Law 29973) was enacted in 2012, whose purpose is to establish the legal framework for their protection, mainly in the areas of health, education, work, and accessibility, so that persons with disabilities can have an optimal social, economic, cultural and technological life.
CONADIS has set up 24 Regional Coordination Centers and 12 decentralized offices across Peru, which allows a rapid enrollment of persons to the registry and enables them to get their disability card in less than 5 days in their region.
