The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Thursday addressed the nation on the occasion of the 201st Anniversary of Peru's Independence.

The event took place at Congress headquarters in the capital city, Lima.

Within this framework, the top official's message to the nation addressed the state of the country and issued main announcements for the coming year exercising power.

The Presidential Independence Day Speech is —without any doubt— the most important activity on the occasion.

As is known, Mr. Castillo took office on July 28, 2021, to become Head of State.

Independence Day

Liberator Jose de San Martin proclaimed the independence of Peru from Spain on July 28, 1821.

Thus, this day serves to commemorate the nation's independence.

The independence process successfully came to an end with the Battle of Ayacucho in December 1824.
