Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Saturday announced that the list of families —who will receive government grants across the regions declared under extreme-alert lockdown— will be published next week.

Days ago, the Executive Branch established the delivery of grants —each worth S/600 (US$164)— to 4.2 million vulnerable households for them to face the second coronavirus wave.

In this sense, the high-ranking official explained that coordinations with the Bank of Nation and the Peruvian Association of Banks (Asbanc) are currently ongoing, so that private banks also support the payments.

"At the same time, we are making adjustments to the roll of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec), along with the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), in order to deliver the bonus (grants) to the most vulnerable households," she told RPP radio and TV station.

Furthermore, the Cabinet chief indicated that the Government is currently looking into ways of supporting soup kitchens, through Midis.
