Peruvian Prime Minister Guido Bellido on Tuesday affirmed that he will continue with the contributions and progress made by the ex-Presidency of the Council of Ministers under the leadership of his predecessor Violeta Bermudez.

During a formal meeting with the ex-Cabinet chief, the new Prime Minister —on his behalf and that of the President of the Republic— thanked Bermudez for the work carried out by her former team.

"We are going to continue. Besides, we are always awaiting the approaches, the recommendations that you are kind enough to give us," Bellido expressed.

"This responsibility that we assume today will be one where dialogue, conversation, and knowing how to listen to those who have gone through this responsibility must prevail, and its outcome is important today," he added.

According to the new Prime Minister, that work will be important so that his administration can start working on what has been developed, continue, and ensure that the country can face the main problems in the midst of the pandemic.

"I thank you for all your efforts and your team," he expressed, after which an act was signed that completed the transfer process.

The purpose of this process was to guarantee the effective succession and continuity of government, promoting transparency, and accountability.

Once the meeting was over, Bermudez explained that she had requested her successor to build on what has been advanced, especially on combating the pandemic at the levels of: prevention, care, and vaccination in order to be in better shape to face the pandemic.

The ex-Prime Minister also said that she —as a citizen— was concerned about the absence of women in the Ministerial Cabinet, adding that she rejects any demonstration favorable to terrorism.

Bermudez also indicated that —once President Castillo's administration presents the Government's general policy to Congress— it will be possible to have a complete vision of the new administration's guidelines so as to provide any opinion.
