Referring to the relationship between the Executive Branch and Congress, Prime Minister Walter Martos on Wednesday noted that the all branches of government in Peru must work in a synchronized and systematic manner.

"In this relationship between the Executive Branch and Congress, and with regard to who listens to whom, I only want to say that the existence of the State implies that the branches of government work in a synchronized and systematic manner," Martos said at a press conference.

The Cabinet chief stated that no branch is more important than the others, since they are all extremely important, but they fulfill different functions.

In this sense, he stressed the need to be very clear about the relationship of respect and to be convinced that the branches of government have different functions, in order to integrate with one another and serve citizens efficiently.

Martos commented that, sometimes, the Legislative Branch proposes bills that encroach upon the functions of the Executive Branch, resulting in situations in which the Government respectfully tries to seek consensus.

"When this happens, we respectfully try to reach a consensus, without affecting the fiscal balance, so as to leave a stable country for the next administration," he stressed.

Remarks were made in a press conference held at the National Museum of Archaeology (MUNA) in Lima during a break of a new session of the Council of Ministers.
