Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Wednesday affirmed that the Public Sector Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2024 has a marked decentralist approach aimed at prioritizing the execution of public spending in favor of the country's vulnerable sectors.

"We are fulfilling a constitutional mandate, such as supporting the 2024 budget; it is the first budget by (the administration of) President Dina Boluarte, and it has priorities; we also believe that it has a marked decentralist and regionalist approach," he indicated upon arriving at Congress headquarters, before joining a plenary session.

Otarola stressed that now, following the swearing-in of new Cabinet members, issues will be prioritized concerning the closing of gaps in terms of poverty, infrastructure, as well as a special focus on prevention and care in the face of El Niño phenomenon.

Consulted about the recent replacement of the Education minister, he pointed out that respecting meritocracy is a government policy.

He added that efforts will be undertaken with new Education sector's head, Miriam Ponce, on policies focused on benefitting students, children, and adolescents.

Precisely, the Cabinet chief arrived this afternoon at the Parliament of the Republic to present the Budget, Indebtedness, and Financial Balance Bills for Fiscal Year 2024.
