The International magazine The Banker, from the Financial Times publishing group, has chosen Peru's Central Reserve Bank President, Julio Velarde, as the Banker of the Year 2015.

The 2014 Central Banker of the Year was Haruhiko Kuroda, Governor of the Bank of Japan.

The Banker's Central Banker of the Year awards celebrate the officials that have best managed to stimulate growth and stabilize their economy.

The leading London-based magazine highlights the efforts and achievements made by the BCR, which operated in a changing environment taking prompt monetary measures.

The BCR stepped up its work to expand credit in domestic currency and improve stability of the country’s financial system, something that, due to recent growth rates and the increased dollarization level of the corporate credit, particularly difficult.
