affirmed that the Sinopharm vaccine has proven to be safe and effective in preventing hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19.
Likewise, the high-ranking official deemed as "absolutely lamentable" the fact that some citizens have recently left some vaccination centers when they learned that they were going to be inoculated with Sinopharm doses.
"This rejection has more to do with disinformation. It is not true that Chinese (vaccines) do not work (…). They all serve to prevent the death of thousands of people in our country," he said.
Furthermore, the Cabinet member announced that the communication strategy will be strengthened to counter the bad information that circulated in our country.
"This strategy should not be implemented in the Lima media but in a decentralized manner, including community leaders, so that official messages reach the population and are interpreted correctly," he indicated.
The official also stressed that there are still vaccination gaps to close, such as the one that exists among those over 60 years of age.
"There are about 1.4 million people who are not fully vaccinated; we need to address this group because it is the most vulnerable," he explained.
