In October, the national production fell by 3.79% —the smallest decline since last March when the Government imposed the state of emergency— as a result of the resumption of the Economic Reactivation's Phase 4, the
reported on Tuesday.
As is known,
Phase 4 began on October 1 gradually with the resumption of commercial, cultural, and service-related activities, and by expanding the capacity already authorized.
The INEI reported that this result is explained by the performance of two groups —those that had a positive evolution such as: agriculture; fishery; electricity, gas, and water; construction; telecommunications; finance and insurance; as well as public administration and defense.
Meanwhile, the sectors —which continued to register negative figures— were mining and hydrocarbons; manufactures; commerce; transportation, storage, and messaging; accommodation and restaurants; in addition to services provided to companies; among others.
During the January-October period of this year, the national production decreased by 13.38%. It also declined by 10.76% in the annualized period (November 2019-October 2020).
Construction sector
The construction sector grew 8.84% in October and accumulated two months of consecutive growth, reflected in higher cement consumption (11.32%) and the progress of works (2.99%).
Farming sector
In the month of analysis, the agricultural sector grew 2.38% and left behind the unfavorable trend registered in the previous four months.
However, the livestock subsector fell 2.48% due to lower production volumes.
Electricity
The electricity, gas, and water sector merely rose by 0.02% in October.
Fishery sector
The Fishery sector expanded 12.35% in the analyzed period due to greater capture of species of maritime origin (9.87%).

Telecommunications and Public Administration
