Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister meets with Malaysian counterpart

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi has held a meeting with her Malaysian counterpart Zambry Abdul Kadir in Indonesia.

The gathering took place within the framework of her working visit to Jakarta (Indonesia), where she will meet with representatives of the countries attending the 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

At the meeting, both ministers discussed the opportunities of the bilateral relationship in economic, trade, and political areas.

Likewise, the two government officials addressed the opportunities offered by multilateral mechanisms such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

For her part, Minister Gervasi reaffirmed Peru's interest in strengthening ties with Malaysia, through the Second Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism in 2024.

In addition, the Peruvian minister reiterated the South American country's support to the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) as cooperation platform.
