Peru's farming exports up 9.3% in March 2020

14:31 | Lima, May. 10.

Peruvian farming exports amounted to US$420 million in March this year, up by 9.3% compared to the same month in 2019, Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) reported on Sunday.

"With this, foreign sales of farming products have totaled US$1.592 billion in the first quarter of 2020, an increase of 9.3% from the same period the year before," the issuing entity stated.

Likewise, it explained that March's positive result reflected higher shipped farming volumes, which went up 9.5%, mainly explained by higher exports of fresh avocados.

Meanwhile, prices increased by 0.2% on average.

Additionally, the top destinations for Peruvian farming exports included countries in the European Union (40.1%), Canada (17.5%), and Ecuador (0.8%).
