Minister Maurtua highlighted the importance of Singapore as a leader in Southeast Asia, while pointing out that Peru also shares a privileged geographical position in the South Pacific area, with a view to consolidating as a commercial and technological hub in the region.
For his part,
Minister Balakrishnan emphasized Peru's great potential and its position as a leading country in terms of mining and agro-exports.
Likewise, he deemed Peru as an important partner in various multilateral forums and highlighted the completion of the negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between the Pacific Alliance and his country, which reaffirms the existing close relationship.
Within this framework, senior officials highlighted the progress made on cooperation between the
Pacific Alliance and
ASEAN, whose relations have been strengthened over recent years.
Furthermore, they highlighted the efforts made between the two blocs to assess measures aimed at fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and boosting economic recovery in favor of the poorest citizens.
Both ministers also agreed to strengthen cooperation ties, especially in terms of digital technologies, avoiding double taxation, promoting digital economy, as well as sharing experiences in terms of transparent public administration and economic development.
