The remains of the deceased
ex-President of Peru, Alan Garcia, were cremated this afternoon at Huachipa's Camposanto Mapfre Cemetery.
Garcia's body was cremated according to his family's wishes.
Relatives, leading politicians, as well as APRA party leader and activists, attended the religious service held at the cemetery chapel.
A police cordon was set up around the area in order to provide security during the private ceremony.
People started to leave as the body was being put into the cremation chamber, shortly before 2:00 PM, as planned.
The Inca country's Executive Branch has declared three days —April 17-19— of national mourning for the death of the ex-President.
