Peru's Defense Minister meets with U.S. Ambassador

Newly sworn-in Defense Minister Gustavo Bobbio Rosas has met with United States Ambassador to Peru Lisa Kenna.

Held on Tuesday, the meeting served to address issues of bilateral interest.

Bobbio Rosas was sworn in as new Minister of Defense at a ceremony held on Monday afternoon at the Government Palace in Lima.

The new head of the Defense sector holds a PhD in Public Policies: National Security and Sustainable Development, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Military Sciences from the Chorrillos Military School. He was also a director of the National Geographic Institute.

The recently sworn-in government official, who is a retired Army general, replaces Daniel Hugo Barragan Coloma. He tendered his irrevocable resignation from his ministerial post on Saturday.
