Peru's coffee exports up 25% in 2016

Peruvian coffee exports expanded 25% in 2016, thus reaching US$757.64 million, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) informed.

Peruvian coffee arrived in 49 countries.  

The United States led the ranking by totaling US$217.30 million in 2016, followed by Germany (US$193.26 million). Together, they welcomed over 54% of shipments. 

Next in the ranking were Belgium (US$79.95 million; up by 10.5%), Sweden (US$40.56 million; 5.3%) and Canada (US$35.23 million; 4.6%).

China (+664%), Egypt (+303%), Russia (+290%), Colombia (+219%), Italy (+121%), the Netherlands (+98%) and Spain (+78%) also stood out during the analyzed period. 

New market destinations for Peruvian beans were El Salvador, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hungary.

In 2011, the average price of coffee per quintal stood at US$856. The lowest price was registered in 2015 (US$353).
