Clemente defeated 2-time World Champion Taylor Jensen (USA) after scoring a total of 18.30 out of 20 points, whereas the American counterpart obtained 17.70.

"I feel incredible. After getting knocked out early in the competition last year, I was frustrated so I have been working so hard all this year for this event [...]," he expressed.

"Waves were incredible throughout the day, which was perfect," Clemente added.

Likewise, the Peruvian athlete highlighted his opponent, who could not obtain the required score.

"Taylor and I met in an event in Japan earlier this year [...]. Taylor is an incredible competitor. I have a lot of respect for him, so I’m really happy to win against him," he said.

It must be noted Clemente also captured the 2013 ASP World Longboard Championship title.
