Following metal prices decrease on the international market, Peru's mining sector undertook measures to overcome said situation.

Thus, Peruvian mining firms focused on investing in technology and innovation tools to improve productivity while reducing costs.

Those results will be presented at Perumin 33rd Mining Convention, said the event's Technology and Innovation Meeting Chair Miguel Cardozo.

The convention will take place on September 18-22 at the National University of Saint Augustine (UNSA) in Southern city of Arequipa.

Professionals will be able to share their knowledge on technological advances and experiences, thus contributing to competitiveness and sustainable development of Peru's mining activities.

In this sense, the European Union will present its "Mineral Development Network Platform (MDNP)," describing the mining relationship linking the EU and Latin America.

The high-level event is expected to welcome 68,000 participants, including national and foreign experts.

Perumin arrives at a good time, since the prices of metals —such as gold, copper, zinc, tin and lead— have entered the upward trend.
