A total of 12.5 tons of fine flavor cacao beans were exported by Cooperativa Agraria Sonomoro del Vraem (COAS) —a farming cooperative located in the district of Pangoa in Satipo province (Junin region)— worth US$46,875 to Germany.

This information was released by the State-run National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida), which provided technical assistance to the aforementioned cooperative to realize cacao sales in the European market.

The business contact was established with Rausch, a German company dedicated to the purchase of select grains, which are customized to the standards that they demand within the framework of the performance of these products.

Devida highlighted that COAS —a cooperative dedicated to the cacao segment— has 501 partners in the districts of Pangoa and Rio Tambo (Junin region), as well as in Atalaya province (Ucayali region).

Out of this total, Devida assists 165 families and intervenes in 219 hectares of cacao crops.

COAS partners receive personalized technical assistance in the production process, harvest, post-harvest, economic activity, and trade, in the field of business management of partnership activity.

These actions are carried out within the framework of the National Policy Against Drugs to 2030, led by Devida at the national level.

Fredy Millan Montalvo, manager of the cooperative, highlighted the importance of partnership.

"Our greatest strength is working together, the cooperative has improved the quality of life of our partners, and our achievements contribute to the development of the country, thanks to the support of Devida and other institutions that support our work in the field," he remarked.
