13:45 | Lima, Aug. 9.

Peru's trade balance recorded a US$802 million surplus in June 2019 —the highest figure posted so far— thus reaching US$2.388 billion in the first half of this year, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported.

Exports totaled US$3.985 billion in the sixth month of the present year.

Therefore, non-traditional exports amounted to US$1.102 billion in June, a 0.7% expansion compared to the same month last year.

This result was mainly underpinned by the farming and chemical sectors.

Traditional exports

On the other hand, BCR indicated traditional exports reached US$2.872 billion.

Furthermore, imports totaled US$3.183 billion in the sixth month. Purchases of capital goods increased 4.1%, but those of inputs and consumer goods fell.
