Peru: Tourists invited to experience San Juan Festivity in Ucayali region

Led by Governor Francisco Pezo, Ucayali region invites tourists to attend the traditional festivity of San Juan in Pucallpa city.

This year's activities will be held from June 15 to 24 in the rainforest metropolis.


Pezo encouraged travelers to enjoy this celebration, saying Ucayali is the entrance door to the Peruvian Amazon and that the region offers a wide biological variety and cultural richness.

The San Juan Festivity celebration coincides with the creation date of Ucayali region (June 18).

For his part, Coronel Portillo Province Mayor Segundo Perez said regional and local authorities are working together to invite all Peruvians to such festivity.

"We have wonders to share with Peru and the world," he stated.


One of the attractions is the Gastronomic Festival, which showcases the varied Amazon cuisine and includes a cooking competition for best Juane —a typical local dish.

Moreover, the festivity includes artistic, cultural, and sporting activities, as well as popular celebrations at public squares and rivers.

Also of note is the implementation of routes to visit Regalia Waterfall in Curimana and Lake Yarinacocha.
