The head of the Development and Social Inclusion Ministry (Midis) Patricia Donayre paid a second working visit to San Martin in order to monitor the measures taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in said region.

The minister supervised the services provided to COVID-19 patients at Moyobamba Hospital and inspected a work completed at Rioja Hospital.

The Cabinet member was commissioned by President Martin Vizcarra to coordinate the fight against the novel coronavirus in San Martin, in ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

Joined by Midis' Country Program Executive Director Mario Rios, Donayre met with Deputy Governor Nohemi Aguilar, Regional Health Directorate (Diresa) representatives and medical staff.

"Although the number of infected individuals, ICU admissions, and deaths is decreasing, we cannot lower our guard. We cannot be triumphalist. The National Government is paying attention to what is occurring in each region and is providing as much aid as possible within the framework of this health emergency," the Midis head remarked.

Donayre indicated that the Executive Branch, Congress, as well as regional and local authorities must work together. "I am in charge of this region, not only in terms of health, but also coordinating with other sectors," she said.
