National Police members on Thursday morning detained Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) President Edwin Oviedo, who is being investigated for his alleged participation in a
criminal organization known as the Port's White Collars.
The arrest occurred by order of the National Criminal Appeals Chamber specializing in corruption offenses committed by officials.
According to first reports, Oviedo was captured at around 7:25 AM in Lima's San Borja district.
Jorge Chavez, the coordinator of special prosecutions against organized crime, reported the preliminary detention was ordered for 10 days.
Additionally, the Judicial Branch has ruled to lift Oviedo's secrecy of communications.
