Shougang Hierro Peru on Tuesday inaugurated its expansion operations in Marcona district, which will contribute to increasing national iron output that expanded 9.8% between January and June 2018, the Energy and Mines Ministry reported.
Thanks to this expansion,
Shougang is expected to double its production climbing from 10 million to 20 million of concentrated
iron ore per year.
Shougang CEO and General Manager Kong Aimin stressed the fact that —since 1993 to date— the corporation has invested US$2 billion in Peru. Likewise, it has provided the Inca country with US$1.5 billion in taxes, whereas domestic purchases reached US$1.4 billion.
The company went on to add its operations in the South American nation generated over 4,000 jobs (direct and indirect ones).
Energy and Mines Minister Francisco Ismodes attended the inauguration ceremony at the metallurgical complex.
