Peru: Public Ministry requests 36-month preventive detention of Keiko Fujimori

10:02 | Lima, Dec. 14.

The Public Ministry of Peru has requested the preventive detention for 36 months of Fuerza Popular (Popular Force) party leader Keiko Fujimori, according to a new document submitted by Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group member Jose Domingo Perez to the Judicial Branch.

This request will be assessed during the hearing convened by the National Preparatory Investigation Court and scheduled for December 26.

The document is supported by the Law against Organized Crime and establishes a series of investigative measures for the preventive detention.

The alleged crimes established by the prosecutor are illicit association, criminal organization, misrepresentation, procedural fraud, and false statement in administrative proceedings.

According to Prosecutor Perez, the alleged commission of crimes would result in a total sentence of 24 years and 10 months imprisonment of Fujimori.

Preventive detention

Back then, the Judicial Branch declared well-founded the request made by the Prosecutor's Office to imprison Fujimori because of the danger of obstruction of justice that implied keeping her free.
