The entry roads to the southern city of Arequipa were blocked again by dozens of protesters on Thursday morning.
In the northern and southern cones of this Peruvian metropolis, the roads were blocked with rocks and stones, while the picture is similar in Uchumayo —the sector where vehicles from the south and north of the country enter the city.
In Downtown Arequipa, the panorama is normal at the moment. Commerce and banking entities serve the public while taking precautionary measures in the face of the possible presence of protesters.
Other social and union organizations also participated in the demonstrations in support of southern residents and demanding the resignation of the
President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, as well as of Congress members.
At Arequipa's bus terminal, the sale of tickets to Lima was suspended once again.
Initially, ticket sales had resumed yesterday after the highway was unblocked, but their commercialization was suspended again due to road blockades.
At this hour, dozens of protesters from various districts carrying black flags —as a sign of mourning for the victims of clashes— gather at the Main Square.
