15:12 | Lima, Jun. 27.

President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday reaffirmed his administration's commitment to fighting corruption to the bitter end and at any cost.

In this sense, the Head of State underlined this objective must not remain just words. On the contrary, it must be translated into concrete actions.

"(...) As I said from the first day (in office), fighting corruption will be one of the main topics that will characterize our administration," the Peruvian leader pointed out.

"We had clearly stated we were going to combat corruption wherever it may be and at any cost," he added.

The statesman recalled the Executive Branch has invested a significant amount of money over recent months to distribute resources among regional and local governments in order to implement public works in favor of underprivileged citizens.

As part of the Government's efforts to fight corruption in the Inca country, Mr. Vizcarra had announced the creation of the Public Integrity Secretary's Office, which will be led by lawyer Susana Silva.

According to the top official, Silva will be completely backed by the State so that she can fulfill her duties efficiently.
