Peru: President Vizcarra's approval rating up 10 points

10:05 | Lima, Aug. 9.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra's approval rating increased 10 percentage points in August, from 39% to 49%, the latest Datum (Pulso Peru) poll revealed Thursday.

On the other hand, the study reveals that 42% of the population disapproves of the Head of State's job performance compared to 52% last month.

This rise in the presidential approval rating was underpinned by the support he received in Lima (56%), followed by eastern (55%), northern (49%), central (40%), and southern (34%) regions in the country.

It must be noted 51% of this support came from urban areas and 42% from rural ones.

As is known, Vizcarra took office on March 23 to replace resigning Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. In his recent address to the nation, he pledged to fight corruption.
