Peru: President Vizcarra visited ex-President Kuczynski at clinic

10:34 | Lima, Apr. 23.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra visited ex-President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski at Lima-based Angloamericana Clinic on Monday night.

According to the Head of State, it was a personal visit aimed at wishing a speedy recovery to Kuczynski.

In this sense, the doctors authorized the visit provided that it was a short one.

Likewise, the top official recalled he had a close relationship with Kuczynski since 2015.

As is known, Kuczynski and Vizcarra ran for President and Vice-President, respectively, representing the Peruanos Por el Kambio party in the 2016 elections.

Kuczynski served as Head of State from July 2016 to March 2018 when he stepped down ahead of an impeachment vote at Congress.

He is currently hospitalized due to a heart condition.

His admission to the health center has prevented his transfer to a prison where he must serve 36-month preventive detention ordered by the Judicial Branch, within the framework of the Odebrecht case investigation.
