Peru President tested negative for covid-19

14:08 | Lima, May. 19.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday reported that he has tested negative for coronavirus (covid-19).

The Head of State said that he —along with the Government Palace staff— underwent such tests.

The top official explained that the test was performed on Monday, and the result was negative because he was scrupulously respectful for the measures required to avoid contagion.

In this sense, he recalled that recommendations include maintaining social distancing, avoiding overcrowding, washing with soap and water or using an alcohol-based sanitizer.

Other protocols include using a face mask, staying home as much as possible, and if away from home, maintaining the one-meter distance in-between one another.

The Peruvian leader commented that he had to deny that he was being treated for covid-19 at a clinic, so he insisted on warning citizens not to believe fake news.

He also reiterated the need to continue working in an articulated and united manner to face the coronavirus pandemic.

On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Tuesday marks the sixty-fifth day of mandatory social isolation.
