Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Sunday announced that rapid response teams, responsible for conducting covid-19 tests, will also prescribe treatment and deliver medicines to patient's homes.
Composed of three members each, the teams will be enhanced by the addition of a doctor, who will prescribe the appropriate treatment to patients starting next week.
"The treatment will be provided not only at hospitals but also at homes, thanks to you, who visit the families, take the tests, and have the results. In addition to this, a doctor will issue the prescription and will immediately hand over the medicine to avoid future complications and treat the disease," he explained.
During his visit to the Rapid Response Center, located inside the National Stadium premises, the Head of State affirmed that thanks to this new effort, the disease will be satisfactorily overcome.
In dialogue with the professionals who conduct the tests, he thanked them for their work on the frontline of the battle against the deadly coronavirus and for being the first to reach people on behalf of the State.
The top official noted that the plan is to double the number of rapid response teams in the immediate future and reach 5,000 teams later, with the support of regional authorities.
According to the statesman, the Executive Branch is working closely with regional authorities
in the fight against covid-19, and Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos has headed to Arequipa region to that end.
