Peru President reaffirms commitment to protect indigenous communities' rights

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday saluted the nation's indigenous communities, as well as reaffirmed the Executive Branch's commitment to protecting their rights and traditions.

"From Ucayali, I extend a warm greeting to our brothers and sisters from the 55 indigenous communities based all over the country, who take care of the great biological and cultural diversity of Peru," the Head of State posted on Twitter.

"I reaffirm my commitment to protecting their rights and customs," he added.

Within this framework, the President participates in a series of activities in the eastern rainforest region, where he opened the Expo Amazonica 2018 fair. 

As is known, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is celebrated on August 9.
