held a working meeting with representatives of mayors' associations at the Government Palace in Lima on Wednesday.
The Cabinet member reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue supporting local authorities in addressing the most urgent issues.
Mayors and district council members from various parts of the country also took part in the event.
After listening to the authorities, the Head of State expressed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by province and district mayors, within the limitations set by the budget.
Based on this morning's talks, the top official said that the establishment of technical working groups will be scheduled to address these issues and ensure progress.
In that regard, Mr. Jeri asked mayors to provide any information they consider necessary.
"We will see progress by sector, taking into account the limitations surrounding the budget. There is, indeed, the willingness to explore alternatives and proposals on this matter," he pointed out.
The top official indicated that, alongside the Cabinet, they will work on the pending matters of each ministry.
Support from authorities
"We wish you success and call for the establishment of a technical working group to present the regions’ needs," Atocsa said.
In this regard, the Association of Council Members of Peru expressed their support, welcoming Mr. Jeri's commitment and the challenge he is taking on given the country's situation.
Meanwhile, Yatacaja Mayor and Network of Rural Municipalities of Peru (Remurpe) Chair Hector Lolo assured the President that they share his fight against delinquency and organized crime.
Furthermore, Lolo proposed regulating the increase of the Municipal Compensation Fund (Foncomun), which will reach around S/2.6 billion (US$760 million).
He suggested that 30% of these funds be allocated to combating public insecurity.
Meeting with students
Later, the Head of State met with representatives of the Federation of Students of Peru.
The delegates called on him to commit to addressing issues of concern to students at public universities.
They also expressed their support and urged the student associations to engage in dialogue.
President Jeri thanked them for the visit, adding that they will work together based on a programmatic agenda.
