The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, led a working meeting with mayors from Puno region at the Government Palace on Monday.

During this event, the Head of State reaffirmed his government's commitment to foster, in coordination with Congress, a supplementary budget allocation in favor of those jurisdictions.

The top official explained that the Executive Branch's proposal primarily seeks to ensure the continuity of ongoing actions, as well as the adoption of regulatory measures.

Likewise, he noted that Congress, through its parliamentary groups, will ultimately propose to the Executive Branch the measures to be prioritized to close existing gaps.

The President said that when he assumed office toward the end of last year, only minimal adjustments could be made to the 2026 Budget Law, which is why his administration has focused its commitment on this supplementary budget allocation.

The top official emphasized that this is a collective effort involving local governments, as well as the Executive and Legislative branches. Therefore, he urged authorities to coordinate with the lawmakers representing their region.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed the commitment of all government sectors to ensure that, once the funding is secured, implementation begins without delay, preventing the resources from reverting to the public treasury.

"So, let us approach this with a sense of responsibility. We must require the technical teams to remain in constant coordination from now on with our technical teams in the corresponding sector in order to move forward (with implementation)," Jeri told the Puno mayors attending the meeting.

Lastly, he thanked them for their visit and invited them to remain in coordination to follow up on their requests or address any observations that may arise.
