During her official visit to Peru and in the context of working meetings held with Foreign Affairs Minister Hugo de Zela, Singapore's Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Grace Fu, announced her country's decision to authorize, for the first time, the entry of Peruvian meat products into the Singaporean market.

The measure was made official during a ceremony in which the Letter of Approval of the Market Access Protocol for Peruvian meat products (processed poultry and pork) to Singapore was handed over to Minister De Zela.

The document was issued by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and presented at a ceremony held at Torre Tagle headquarters in Lima on Tuesday.

Minister Fu also met with Peruvian Environment Minister Nelly Paredes.

During the event, they addressed issues such as climate cooperation and investment in emissions mitigation projects.

An expanded meeting was held with the participation of the deputy ministers of Agrarian Development and Irrigation and Foreign Trade, where discussions focused on export opportunities offered by Peru in the Singaporean market.

In his remarks, Minister De Zela said this achievement—which demonstrates the strength of bilateral relations between Peru and Singapore—is the result of sustained diplomatic efforts and rigorous technical work carried out by institutions from both countries.

He stressed that it constitutes recognition of the sanitary and safety standards required internationally, which Peru meets.

"Singapore is a key partner for Peru, particularly in terms of our projection toward Southeast Asia. To give you an idea, trade between the two countries reached $184 million in 2025, representing growth of nearly 80% compared to the previous year. We are confident that this visit will allow that trade to continue expanding," he said, highlighting Peru's projection toward the Asia-Pacific region as a State policy.

This authorization confirms confidence in the strength of Peru's sanitary control system and positions the country as a reliable global supplier of food products, recognized for quality, safety, and traceability.

Similarly, it creates an opportunity for future exports of fresh and frozen meat and other high-potential agri-food products to this market.

Minister Fu was accompanied by a Singaporean business delegation from the meat sector and entities linked to the carbon credits market.

Its members participated in a business round with Peruvian exporting companies, which also made it possible to explore commercial opportunities and establish concrete business ties with the South American country.
