The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Thursday inaugurated Villa Essalud (EsSalud Village) in the Peruvian rainforest city of Pucallpa, during a visit to Ucayali region.

While in the rainforest metropolis, the Head of State inspected the facilities and talked to the
health care staff members.

The temporary hospital —which belongs to the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) network— has 100 beds and the same number of oxygen cylinders. It awaits the implementation of direct oxygen access for future patients in beds.

The new Villa EsSalud Pucallpa —which comprises an area of 1,800 square meters— adds the care of COVID-19 patients to its free-of-charge offer.

In addition, it has two observation units housing hospital beds, each with oxygen points for oxygen therapy treatment.

The Social Health Insurance System reported that Villa EsSalud Pucallpa's first hospital ward has a capacity for 40 beds —20 for men and 20 for women, who show mild and moderate symptoms.

The second hospital ward has 2 observation units and 60 beds —each with oxygen points for moderate patients who need oxygen therapy.

The new infrastructure has additional rooms to serve another 30 to 40 more patients.

On this occasion, the President was joined by EsSalud Executive President Fiorella Molinelli.

Thursday marks the ninety-fifth day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
