The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Saturday morning inaugurated the Juliaca Temporary Isolation Center, where care will be provided to COVID-19 patients.

This establishment has been set up on the esplanade of Carlos Monge Medrano Hospital. It features 50 hospital beds for mild and moderate patients diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that the center will be operational starting today to receive 28 patients.

This temporary hospital has been implemented by the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games Special Legacy Project commissioned by the Defense Ministry.

The top official indicated that —thanks to this project— health response capacity has been increased.

However, he was emphatic in his call on citizens not to be overconfident and —instead— continue complying with the Government's provisions to confront the virus that is still among us.

"If citizens comply with social distancing and hand washing, we will continue moving forward," he said.

On this occasion, the President was joined by First Lady Maribel Diaz, as well as by Ministers Pilar Mazzetti (Health), Carlos Estremadoyro (Transport and Communications), and Carlos Lozada (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation).
