Peru President enacts political reform bills

14:34 | Lima, Aug. 26.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday led the enactment ceremony of four political reform bills approved at Congress' plenary session.

In this sense, the Head of State recalled Peruvians had witnessed events that created frustration and distrust. Thus, the representatives —elected by the citizens— cannot turn their backs on this situation.

"For that reason, since we assumed the term in office, we proposed reforms that seek to transform the political-judicial system, as well as the country's direction," he expressed.

"We must assume our responsibility as representatives and allow citizens to be the ones who decide Peru's future," he added.

The ceremony took place at the Government Palace.

On the occasion, he was joined by Prime Minister Salvador del Solar and Justice-Human Rights Minister Vicente Zeballos.
