Peru President determined to expel those who entered country illegally

11:35 | Lima, Jan. 13.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Monday said that he has ordered the expulsion from Peru of foreigners who have not fulfilled immigration requirements and those who entered the country illegally.

"We have to protect citizens and stand firm," he stated, after congratulating the National Police for the intervention of more than 120 people —mostly foreigners— at Punta Negra Beach.

The Head of State reported that those intervened are being investigated, and called on prosecutorial and judicial authorities to apply the full extent of the law to those responsible.

"We need institutions that care for the population. I have ordered the immediate expulsion from Peru of the people who have not fulfilled immigration requirements and foreigners who entered the country illegally, with due observance of the law," he expressed.

The activity took place at the Economy and Finance Ministry (MEF) headquarters in Lima.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos, Economy-Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva, Comptroller-General Nelson Shack, and AMPE Head Alvaro Paz de La Barra, among others.
