President Martin Vizcarra on Monday afternoon confirmed that COVID-19 cases total 16,325 in Peru.
It must be noted that 148,011 samples have been taken so far, including molecular (41,356) and rapid (106,655) ones.
Other, 136,686 citizens have tested negative.
Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that positive cases account for 11% of the total samples.
He went on to add that 1,682 patients are hospitalized in various health care centers belonging to the Social Health Insurance System-EsSalud (841), the Ministry of Health (496), the Armed Forces and Peruvian National Police (202), as well as in private clinics (143).
The death toll stands at 445.
Likewise, the top official projected that these coming weeks "are the most difficult" linked to the disease given its evolution. These are supposed to see the highest number of infected citizens who —in timely manner— will require hospitalization and intensive care.
On this occasion, the President was joined by some members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
Monday marks the thirty-sixth day of mandatory social isolation.
