President Martin Vizcarra on Saturday afternoon confirmed that
COVID-19 cases total 14,420 in Peru.
It must be noted that 135,895 samples have been taken so far. The positive cases were the result of 7,983 molecular and 6,437 rapid tests.
Other, 121,475 citizens have tested negative.
Likewise, the Head of State informed that 1,268 patients are hospitalized, of whom 117 are at Intensive Care Units connected to mechanical ventilation.
Similarly, the top official said that —based on statistical data on the disease in other nations— of the 100% who contracted the virus, 30% have no symptoms, whereas 55% have mild symptoms and may be at home until they recover. The remaining 15% require hospital care.
According to the Health Ministry, the death toll has reached 348.
On this occasion, the President was joined by some members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
Saturday marks the thirty-fourth day of mandatory social isolation.
